John Evans, MD, FAAP
Dr. Evans is a native of Louisville, Kentucky and a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He attended the University of Michigan where he majored in biology. After graduating he returned to Louisville to obtain his medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He then completed his pediatric residency at Columbus Children's Hospital (now Nationwide Children's Hospital) in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Evans joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2005.
Dr. Evans is married to his wife, Lynn. Together they have two children: Max, born in 2002 and Ellie, born in 2004. In his spare time Dr. Evans enjoys photography, cooking, traveling and spending time on the lake.
Anthony Smith, DO, FAAP
Dr. Smith is a native of Leitchfield, Kentucky and a graduate of Grayson County High School. He attended the University of Louisville where he majored in chemistry with a concentration in biochemistry. After graduating he attended the Kentucky College of Osteopathic Medicine at the University of Pikeville. He then completed his pediatrics residency at Kosair Children's Hospital (now Norton Children's Hospital) in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Smith joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2015 and is board certified through the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Smith is married to his wife, Jessica. Together they have Carter, born in 2016, and Emma, born in 2018. Dr. Smith loves to spend time with his wife and children, try new foods, cook, hunt, ride horses, build furniture and play golf.
Elizabeth Stivers, MD, FAAP, CLC
Dr. Stivers is a native of Harned, Kentucky and a graduate of Breckenridge County High School. She attended the University of Louisville where she majored in biology. After graduating she obtained her medical degree at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency training at Norton Children's Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky. Dr. Stivers joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2017. She is board certified through the American Board of Pediatrics and is a Certified Lactation Counselor.
Dr. Stivers is married to her husband, Mark. Together they have Westley, born in 2013, and Wyatt, born in 2018. In her spare time she enjoys the outdoors, camping and fishing with her family, knitting, sewing and making candy.
Wendee Embry, PA-C
Wendee is a native of Caneyville, Kentucky and a graduate of Grayson County High School. She attended college at Eastern Kentucky University on a cross country scholarship and was a double major in sociology and psychology. She then went on to obtain her masters in clinical psychology. After this she obtained her master's in physician assistant studies at the University of Kentucky. Wendee joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2012.
Wendee is the proud mother of twin boys, Henry and Reid, born in 2022. Outside of work Wendee is an avid runner. She also enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with her family. In the fall months Wendee is an assistant coach for the Grayson County cross country teams.
Jeanette Jacobs, APRN
Jenny is a native of Louisville, Kentucky. She attended college at Bellarmine University where she obtained her RN/BSN. She then worked for Kosair Children's Hospital as a nurse for over 16 years. After completing the pediatric nurse practitioner program at Northern Kentucky University she joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2019.
Jenny is happily married to her husband, Steven, and they currently reside in Louisville. Together they have three children: Luke, born in 2004, Zac, born in 2006, and Jordyn, born in 2012. She enjoys Disney World, reading, crafting, playing games and spending time with her family.
Crystal Burden, APRN
Crystal is a native of Fordsville, Kentucky. She attended college at the University of Kentucky, where she obtained a BS in psychology. She then enrolled in Vanderbilt University's pediatric nurse practitioner program, graduating in August of 2021 with her MSN. She completed her clinical rotations with Leitchfield Pediatrics and elected to return immediately after graduation to begin her career.
Crystal is happily married to her husband, Sanders, and they currently reside in Beaver Dam, Kentucky. Together they have one daughter, Vadis, born in 2023. Crystal enjoys being at the beach, spending time with her family and spoiling her dogs.
Laura Hunt, APRN
Laura is a native of Morgantown, Kentucky. She attended the University of Kentucky College of Nursing where she obtained her BSN and DNP in the pediatric nurse practitioner program. She graduated with her DNP in 2020 and joined Leitchfield Pediatrics in 2023.
Laura is happily married to her husband, Brad, and they currently reside in Owensboro, Kentucky. Together they have one son, Cayde, born in 2022. Laura enjoys spending time with her friends and family and three family dogs.
RETIRED
Joseph Lee, MD, FAAP
Dr. Lee is a native of Leitchfield, Kentucky. He is a graduate of St. Joseph Preparatory School in Bardstown, KY. He attended the University of Notre Dame where he majored in pre-professional studies. After graduating he obtained his medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. He then completed his pediatric residency at Akron Children's Hospital in Akron, Ohio.
Dr. Lee founded Leitchfield Pediatric Clinic, along with his wife Nadyne, in August of 1976. At that time he was truly a pioneer as pediatrics was primarily a speciality offered mostly in larger cities. Since then Dr. Lee has dedicated his professional life to growing the practice and providing the highest quality care possible to the children of this community. He is board certified through the American Board of Pediatrics.
Dr. Lee's wife, Nadyne, practiced as a nurse practitioner at Leitchfield Pediatric Clinic until retiring in 2008. Together they have two sons, David and Mark, one daughter, Merry Beth, and four grandsons. Dr. Lee retired in October of 2020 and hopes to spend more time traveling, especially to watch Notre Dame football games, spending time with his grandchildren and bird watching.
